Foster did it!!! Show Champion Oakberrow Wotzinaname Sh.CM

Foster retrieving a duckMy boy has been and gone and done it.  At the German Shorthaired Pointer Club Championship Show in July he won 1st in Open Dog and then the Challenge Certificate giving him that sought after 3rd so he can become a Show Champion.

I must record my grateful thanks to the judge on the day Martin Harris (Barleyarch GSPs) and also my runners - Des and Heather who did a brilliant job and also to all my friends who were there to cheer me on when I became an emotional wreck.

Foster is out doing what he loves best - that is working on the local shoots either beating or picking up, dependent on which shoot he is on.

Foster is available at stud to approved bitches only.

Ryeland success at the 2013 Royal Welsh Show

Reserve Male Champion for Noble

Dolwen Noble

Steve has just returned from the Royal Welsh Show where we had great success under judge Brenda Wear.  Dolwen Noble was 2nd in the Senior ram class and then overall Reserve Male Champion.  Our girls also did well with the Senior ewe sired by Ruslin Kanto winning the breeding ewe class and our shearling ewe sired by Juggis Laser placed 5th in a very large class.

We have a number of ewe lambs for sale at Oakberrow sired by Noble and Kanto, do get in touch if  you wish to learn more.

Also we have days available in August for Sheep Husbandry courses as well as Show preparation.

Foster wins his second challenge certificate at Windsor

We had a great day at Windsor Championship Dog Show.

Oakberrow Wotzinaname Sh.CM (Foster)

Foster - or his posh name Oakberrow Wotzinaname Sh.CM - won his second Challenge Certificate and also Best of Breed.  To top all of that he was also shortlisted in the Gundog Group by Carole Coode one of the leading gundog judges in the country.

Val Grant of Stairfoot GSPs was the breed judge and this was the first time that Foster had been shown under Val.  If my memory serves me correctly quite a few years ago Val awarded Guinness - Jennaline Seamour Butts at Oakberrow JW - a first in his class.

So roll on the rest of 2013 and see if Foster can win his all important third Challenge Certificate after which he will be a Show Champion!!!

BREEZE HAS FANTASTIC SUCCESS

At only seven months of age she beat her mum in the show ring!!

BreezeAbsolutely delighted and very proud of my little girl Breeze, her posh name Oakberrow Gintastic.  At the West Country Dog Club Open Show held over Easter she won Best of Breed beating her mother.  Her success went even further because she competed in the adult Gundog Group and was awarded second - so second best gundog in show.  Then to top it all she was award Best Gundog Puppy in Show.

Last week her brother Streudel, competed at Chippenham Canine Society Open Show where he won Best Puppy making this his second after success at recent Mid Western Gundog Society Open show.

The two of them will be making their first appearance at a Championship Show at the end of the month, West of Englands Ladies Kennel Society which is being held at the Three Counties Showground, Malvern.

After that they are going to Birmingham National Championship Dog Show where they will have their very first stab at qualifying for Crufts.

Lambing is nearly over

It has been very hectic over the last few weeks as the lambs have been coming thick and fast.

Ceres and her lambs - a boy and girl

This year the Texel ewes all went to a Polled Dorset Ram and there are some really good commercial lambs come from this.

The Ryelands have also lambed well and we have a good crop some of which are already standing out from the crowd.  Looking forward to the showing season.

This year we will be late onto the showing scene as I am delighted to have been asked to judge the Ryelands at Devon County Show in May and then the Coloureds at the Royal Welsh Spring Fair (used to be called Smallholders Show) again in May.

Steve will be judging the Ryelands at the Royal Three Counties Show on the Saturday - 15 June.

I digress, the Greyfaced Dartmoors have lambed and I am really sad that Willow has again not lambed.  I bought her last year as potentially being in lamb, Decimus covered her but no lambs!!  Also Dot has not had any lambs either!  However I am delighted with my other lambs and have attached a photo which shows just how cute they are.
