SHOW SEASON IS ON THE WAY - SHOW PREPARATION AND HUSBANDRY

Ryeland National Champion - Oakberrow eweLambing is over at Oakberrow.  It has gone well for all the breeds and we are really excited about looking at the lambs to see who is going to be our star or should I say stars to join the Shows Team for 2019.

Are you thinking about showing your sheep, then we would love to help with a course starting from how to choose your sheep for the show ring, preparing the sheep and teaching you how to show, ring etiquette.  If interested then get in touch all you competitive people.

Sheep husbandry is 12 months of the year, so if you are thinking about joining the lovely world of sheep then come along for our course, or if you have your first sheep and want to learn more about how to look after them again, do get in touch.

WOW - WHAT AN AMAZING AND MEMORABLE DAY AT CRUFTS

Foster - Sh Ch Oakberrow WotzinanameThis year we only entered the Hungarian Wirehaired Vizslas at Crufts and they did really well under breed specialist judge Chris Guest.  Our new girl on the block - Sloane - Oakberrow Let the Fun be Gin was placed 2nd in puppy bitch class and her Grannie Breeze - Oakberrow Gintastic - won the open bitch class.  However Tilly - Ginger Lillie Around Oakberrow - who is owned by Yvonne Aldridge won Best Veteran in Breed and also the Reserve Champion Bitch.  So our lovely girl Gin - Mum to Tilly and Breeze was very proud of her girls.

EVEN BETTER - the Best of Breed German Shorthaired Pointer Navigaremor Hard to Port - HP to his friends - is a son of my handsome boy Foster - Sh Ch Oakberrow Wotzinaname.

So TEAM OAKBERROW had a brilliant Crufts.  In 2020 I am judge at Crufts so looking forward to this with great excitement.

Gin and Breeze

2019 LAMBING COURSE DATES ANNOUNCED AT OAKBERROW

Greyface Dartmoor ewe and her twinsFor 2019 our girls have a really tight lambing.  Courses will commence on 18 February and run straight through to 2nd March 2019.  

STOP PRESS - We have spaces for 28th Feb, 1st, 2nd and 3rd March 2019.  

Booked up from 18th Feb to 26th Feb.

This gives us the flexibility to fit in with your busy diary.

The day commences at 10am and finishes at approx 4pm dependent on whether there may be a ewe on lambing.  Lunch is provided.  Please ensure that you come dressed for working with sheep, even although all the lambing does take place indoors.

We will be lambing Ryeland Sheep and Greyface Dartmoors and at the end of March our commercial sheep.

Or it may be that you are keen to own sheep but want to learn about how to look after them and able to talk the same language as your local farmers, we can help.

As we are at home this gives us the opportunity to be flexible on dates to fit in with your diary.  Maximum on a day would be four.

Lambing course bookings can be made, lambing will be February 2019.
